The Elliott Lucca Napoli Drawstring Tote is one of our all-time Angel Handbag favorites. Done up in a metallic (a great neutral for all seasons), it effortlessly combines streamlined functionality with bohemian flavor. It goes as well with our pea-coats and work flats as it does with our spring-iest floral dress.
The story behind this bag, and all the other incredible Elliott Lucca numbers we carry at Angel Handbags, makes us love them even more. The brand is the brainchild of childhood friends Mark Talucci and Todd Elliott (recognize those names!?), who grew up overseas. A lifetime of collecting unusual textiles at hippie bazaars in South America inspired the two to leave their humdrum corporate jobs and take a jaunt to Bali in 1989, where they were blown away by the indigenous fabrics and artisan creations. The creation of a handbag line, however, was a happy fluke that occurred only after Mark and Todd began an exportation business of the Bali wares to their adopted hometown of San Francisco. At a 1989 Superbowl party, Todd’s sister wore a rattan and leather handbag fashioned out of an Indonesian sleeping mat that attracted more attention than the game. The label was born; and as they say, the rest is history.
